OBS E-Fuel installation instructions page

Orders are placed on the new website

This is the general instructions page for the OBS E-Fuel System – it goes over in great detail all the aspects of our fuel system. Use this webpage to get your fuel system installed properly.

Once you have finished the install but – BEFORE YOU TURN YOUR KEY FORWARD!!!!!! – Follow this initial key on step by step guide.

9/20/2023 – Here is a new regulator informative video that re-addresses some regulator questions, even though some of them are answered in other videos and the photo at the bottom of this page, some people just like to hear me talk 🙂 :

8/8/2023 – This video shows our change from insulated connectors to non-insulated connectors. It also updates our older wiring harness video, it supplements some of our other videos below, I have also included a diagram:

9/6/2022 – Here is our unboxing video, this video is complete and up to date at the time of recording. It covers all of the contents of our standard kit:

7/22/2022 – This video is the most up to date install video that we have from a customer install. He also purchased the auxiliary items in our unboxing video. In this video the customer actually had an issue right after installing the kit. After inspecting the pump it was found that the pump was over pressurized! We later found that the lines were swapped up @ the fuel pump replacement fitting and the bottom of the regulator – check out our page: Common E-Fuel related issues

2/21/2021 – Here is our Install video, we are working on a new one that includes all of our updates. However, all of the updates that are missing from this video are supplemented in segmented videos linked on this page. If you can’t figure something out from those videos or our website photos please do not hesitate to call!:

7/24/2020 – Here is the updated regulator bracket video. You will use this bracket with the OEM front of head lines. This allows plastic cover to stay on your engine! * * * * UPDATE #2 – WE SEND OUT NEW FRONT OF HEAD LINES REGARDLESS!!!! * * * * *
https://youtu.be/h_MZe8Bq84o

5/15/2020 – Here we have an overview video that does not have all of our updates, we are working on a new one that includes all of our updates. All of the updates that are missing from this video are supplemented in segmented videos linked on this page or images we have on our website. This overview shows the OLD brass selector valve fitting and does NOT show the new selector valve fittings (green and blue quick disconnects). Our website pictures show them though and multiple other videos we have here show them. This video also shows ½” line being used, we only use 3/8” lines now. This cuts down on waste and makes the install even easier! It has great information in it and I don’t want to take it down for that reason:

2/18/2019 – Here is the updated extra’s bag we sent out that includes new “sleeves” for the factory rear of head lines.

1/20/2019 – Here is the key on power source under the hood option for your wiring harness.
https://youtu.be/GGpbHZQSaLE

1/20/2019 – Here is our Fuel pump replacement video. Once again, both lines will be 3/8” from now on. This makes installation easier, allows more adjust-ability with extra fittings and helps make sure you don’t run out of hose even if you make a wrong cut.

 1/10/2019 – Wiring harness video #1.

4/3/2015 – Here is our ORIGINAL install video for the OBS E-Fuel conversion. It is OUTDATED. You do NOT cut the rear of head lines. However it has GREAT information about installing fittings, pushloc and installing/adjusting the brackets. Please WATCH this video to absorb GREAT reference material.

Here is a wrench we use to get the banjo bolt out. It is a 12 point 1 1/4″. This is how we modified it, an unmodified wrench works as well (if it has a thin handle like this one), but this modification REALLY makes the job easy.

BELOW VIDEOS ARE NOT INSTALLATION VIDEOS. HOWEVER WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU WATCH THEM ANYWAY!

If you experience an issue with your fuel system, please follow these diagnostic videos before you call in. Make sure you check the power and ground at the pump and run our fuel system on it’s own fuel supply.
At least 99% of “fuel pump problems” are pre-pump issues or installation errors. In the event that you ran the pump for a period of time, and you are experiencing an issue, OFTEN TIMES YOU MUST REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP to figure out what PROBLEM (improper install/pre pump issue) caused your SYMPTOM (failed or weak fuel pump). You must understand this relationship (SYMPTOM vs PROBLEM). If you replace the pump (symptom) without fixing the issue that caused it (problem), you will likely kill another pump. If your pump is “DOA” dead on arrival – 100% of the time it has been an electrical issue. These pumps are ALL tested before they ship. Make sure the power and grounds are connected properly to the pump. Always make sure red is on ( + ) and black is on ( – ).

Pre-Pump diagnostic #3 – Check the vacuum gauge! Anything more than 8” of vacuum indicates an issue! In the video it says 5”, but we have found that 5”-8” is COMMON.

* * * * THE FIX FOR PRE PUMP ISSUES * * * * *

We offer a PRE-PUMP SOLUTIONS KIT – $300 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states (when purchased at the same time as your fuel system). This line kit replaces all 4 pre-pump lines. It includes a set of pinch pliers and 2 new umbrellas for inside the tank. If you want to just blow your lines out, that is fine, but MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE INTERNAL O-RING’S at each quick disconnect. If they are damaged, replace the entire line!

We also offer single tank conversions!
When converting to a single tank we can sump either tank (because we are eliminating the selector valve on the fuel side) OR we can re-use your sending unit connections! Our kits come with EVERYTHING needed to complete the task.

We also offer new OEM selector valves, 6C3Z-9189-A.

We also offer NEW front and rear sending unit’s. We need to know WHAT size tanks you have and if they are plastic or steel.

This is a list of fuel filters that SHOULD be compatible with your fuel system. These are listed as direct replacements. I can not guarantee that they will work.
